Chapters

BookProject chapters allow people to create a private area for their group within the BookProject website. Within a chapter, people can read each other's reviews of books they have read, and chapter administrators can post messages to the group.

Any group of people with an interest in peace, social wealth, or the environment is welcome to create a BookProject chapter. A chapter can be used by a reading group, for example, or as a tool for an organization or community group to circulate books and DVDs. Independent merchants, such as bookstores and coffee shops, are also welcome to create chapters (for reading groups and other non-commercial purposes).

The website presents a central book list for each chapter, with links to members' comments about each title. Chapter administrators can choose whether to present an open chapter book list, where all titles read or deployed by chapter members are displayed, or a managed list, where only selected titles are displayed.

Chapter administrators can communicate with chapter members by posting announcements that the members see when they login to BookProject, and by emailing a chapter newsletter. (Chapter administrators do not have access to members' email addresses, and chapter members can choose whether or not to receive email from a chapter. See our privacy policy.)

Chapters are private: members join chapters by invitation only. For small chapters, administrators can create individual invitations for the people they would like to have join the chapter. For larger chapters, administrators can create a chapter "passcode" that allows people to join the chapter. The passcode can be published or posted where the intended audience can see it.

BookProject members are free to create and join any number of chapters.

To create or join a chapter, you must be a BookProject member. If you are already a member, please login and return to this page to work with chapters. If you are not a BookProject member, we invite you to become a member. (Becoming a member is free, and requires only an email address and a nickname.)
