Today's quote

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
— Dwight Eisenhower (1890-1969)

Groups

BookProject groups allow people to create a private area for their group within the BookProject website. Within a group, people can read each other's reviews of books they have read, and group administrators can post messages to the group.

Any group of people with an interest in peace, social wealth, or the environment is welcome to create a BookProject group. A group can be used by a reading group, for example, or as a tool for an organization or community group to circulate books and DVDs. Independent local merchants, such as bookstores and coffee shops, are also welcome to create groups (for reading groups and other non-commercial purposes).

The website keeps a central book list for each group, with members' reviews of each title. Group administrators can choose whether to present an open group book list, where all titles added by group members are displayed, or a managed list, where only selected titles are displayed.

Group administrators can communicate with group members by posting announcements that the members see when they login, and by emailing a newsletter to the group. (Group administrators do not have access to members' email addresses, and group members can choose whether or not to receive email from a group. See our privacy policy.)

Groups are private: members join groups by invitation only. For small groups, administrators can create individual invitations for the people they would like to have join the group. For larger groups, administrators can create a group "passcode" that allows people to join the group. The passcode can be published or posted where the intended audience can see it.

BookProject members are free to create and join any number of groups.

To create or join a group, you must be a BookProject member. If you are already a member, please login and return to this page to work with groups. If you are not a BookProject member, we invite you to become a member. (Becoming a member is free, and requires only an email address and a nickname.)
